AANI WEEKEND MARKET – ARCA SOUTH
AANI stands for Agra-Aqua Network International. From the name itself, you’d know that the products sold here are mainly agricultural products (i.e. organic produce) from various parts of the country such as the Cordillera highlands and neighboring seas.
AANI weekend market, happening in Ayala Land’s 74-hectare property in ARCA South in Taguig, is one of the most organized weekend markets there is. You can check out the produce area, garden section, wet market, and dry goods section.Specifically, you’ll find choices exclusive to AANI such as wild honey from Laguna and Palawan; potted herbs, flowering orchids, bromeliads, ferns, and vermicompost fertilizer; tawilis from Taal, crabs from Roxas City, tuna from Mindanao and even Norwegian pink salmon; and native products. Cordillera’s contributions include bell peppers, green and violet cabbages, salad tomatoes, and sitsaro (snow pea). There are also live free-range chickens for sale. When you get tired of roaming the market, the weekend market has a food court where you can sample food choices you cannot necessarily find at a typical restaurant. The perfect examples are dinakdakan, gating suso (long snails cooked in coconut milk and chili) and tinuktukang pagi (stingray). Native delicacies also abound the market. The best part is – you get to learn free advice on how to grow your plants properly from store owners who are gardeners and farmers themselves. They’d tell you how you can best green your home, too.The ambiance is also complete since the stores are not your typical stalls – nipa huts! The vibe is so rustic and nostalgic at the same time. It is even reminiscent of the agoras in the provinces.
True enough, the city is in sync with what people need and want. The market is open every Saturdays and Sundays, from 5 am to 2 pm at the heart of ARCA South.
